Medical Office Assistant

Location: Duncan, BC Employment Status: 40 hrs./wk.

JOB SUMMARY:

Full-time MOA required for an accredited multi-national cardio-respiratory company. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of medical office-related duties; reception, scheduling patient appointments, filing and communicating with physician offices. Will provide assistance to clinical care team, downloading and cleaning diagnostic devices as well as perform other administrative duties as required. Must be a team player, have excellent computer skills, keen attention to detail and accuracy, and has the ability to learn quickly and to work efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess a Grade 12 education and ideally, at least three years' office experience. MOA diploma and/or previous experience in a medical setting are definite assets.

Respiratory Therapist – Vancouver Island, BCApril 2013

Job Summary: The job is based mainly in the Greater Victoria area, with area coverage up Island at times. This position is responsible for setting up and managing clients on Respiratory Homecare Therapy modalities.  This includes ensuring their health care needs are met and their funding has also been taken care of where possible.  Participate in the afterhours (on call service) as per schedule.  Provide in office customer service when not in the community with clients, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

General Description:

  • Assess clients; perform new oxygen, CPAP, and other respiratory equipment set-ups.
  • Provide equipment as per physician’s orders, and Home Oxygen Program (HOP) requests.
  • Plan daily & weekly servicing, set ups, and office work around existing schedule.
  • Provide on-going and up-to-date follow ups and servicing, as per HOP  and company guidelines.
  • Ensure clients have a thorough understanding of HOP & Extended Benefits (EHB) funding processes.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team to help screen, assess, and treat clients with sleep disorders.
  • Provide ongoing training and education to clients on safety related issues as they relate to their care.
  • Liaise with referral sources and other community service providers, and be able to provide in-services.
  • Assist in training of new Respiratory Therapist employees.
  • Be available to participate in conventions and trade shows.
  • Participate in on-call schedule.

Work Experience/Requirements:

  • Previous Respiratory Homecare experience would be an asset.
  • A good working knowledge of treating COPD, OSA, and Asthma would be an asset.
  • Maintain current CSRT and BCSRT registration.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Must have a valid  Driver’s License.
  • Highly organized to work independently and as a team.
  • Positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills is a must.

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • RPSGT and RST designations would be an asset.
  • CAE or CRE, qualifications would be an asset.

Payroll Coordinator

Location: Calgary, AB Employment Status: 37.5 hrs./wk.,

The Payroll Coordinators main function is to ensure all payroll requirements are met while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy. As a member of the Accounting/HR team and the primary point of contact for payroll, the incumbent will respond to inquiries from management, employees and third parties.

Key accountabilities:

  • Leads and administers semi-monthly payroll for clients in a multi-company and multi-provincial environment.
  • Ensure all payrolls are completed accurately and on time.
  • Identify and resolve issues arising from review/processing of payroll .
  • Oversee/coordinate 3rd party payments (Receiver General etc.)
  • Ensure monthly reports/billings and account reconciliations are accurately posted to the general ledger/accounting system
  • Develop and maintain procedures and policies’ to ensure efficient functioning and integration of practices affecting pay.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll processes and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Manager all T4/5 reporting requirements including calculation and verification of taxable benefits including T2200 tax forms and WCB reporting.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline existing processes and works to continuously improve integration/value derived from payroll related systems.

The ideal candidate should be current on new legislation and regulatory ruling impacting payroll in a multi-provincial, multi-company environment, enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on required actions.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years payroll processing experience with responsibilities that include payroll journal entries, accruals, general ledger and payroll account reconciliation. The successful candidate will require attention to detail, strong business acumen with an ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.

Must be organized and able to work within deadlines and work independently as well as in a team environment. This is a full-time term position for 2 years with the potential to become permanent at the end of the term.

Qualifications or skills required:

  • Good working knowledge of Ceridian/Insync payroll system strongly preferred
  • Professional payroll designation preferred (PCP/CPM). Consideration given to relevant education and experience
  • Current CPA membership an asset
  • Broad payroll experience and solid understanding of payroll practices including payroll tax knowledge
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office sills (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Fluent understanding, comprehension and communication skills in English
